Mike Hoerres is a seasoned life sciences executive with over two decades of experience in biotechnology, diagnostics, and healthcare innovation, including as Chief Executive Officer of Cernostics, Inc., where he led the development and commercialization of TissueCypher®, a pioneering diagnostic test for Barrett’s Esophagus. Under his leadership, Cernostics achieved significant milestones, culminating in its acquisition by Castle Biosciences. His career also includes a tenure as Principal at Geisinger Health System’s Office of Strategic Industry Partnerships, where he focused on fostering collaborations between the health system and industry partners. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a master’s degree in molecular immunology from San Diego State University.
Dr. Arnold is a renowned biotechnology executive and serial entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in molecular diagnostics and genomics. He has held senior positions at companies like Gen-Probe (now Hologic), Incyte Genomics, and Genta, and co-founded Molecular Biosystems and Oasis Biosciences. Dr. Arnold is the principal inventor of the chemiluminescent Hybridization Protection Assay (HPA), a technology central to Hologic assays generating over $700 million in annual revenue. He holds 63 issued U.S. patents and over 200 issued and pending patents worldwide. Dr. Arnold earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Sung brings over 25 years of leadership experience in life sciences, encompassing both operational roles and venture capital. She has served as CEO or Chief Business Officer at multiple biotech companies, including ImmunoActiva and Cylene Pharmaceuticals. As a venture investor, Dr. Sung held positions at Oxford Bioscience Partners and Coastview Capital, serving on ten boards, five as Chairperson. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University and her B.S. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Poole leads R&D at Aegea Biotechnologies, leveraging over 25 years of expertise in molecular diagnostics, assay development, and biotechnology innovation. He specializes in high-complexity assay platforms, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), quantitative PCR (qPCR), and nucleic acid analysis from difficult sample types. Prior to joining Aegea, he served as Chief Scientific Officer at MDxHealth, where he advanced urologic oncology diagnostics to commercialization, and held leadership roles at Active Motif in epigenetics and chromatin biology. Dr. Poole holds an M.S. from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago.
